Description

Ardross Street Precinct transforms an under-utilised 1960s commercial building in Applecross, previously known as Applecross Village.

Adaptive re-use, enhancing the ‘village’ concept and prioritising people over vehicles were key drivers for this placemaking project. The client was committed to retaining rather than rebuilding, so our approach focused on breathing new life into the existing building while elevating the precinct’s overall look and feel. The goal was to achieve a positive design and amenity outcome that would attract high quality tenants and re-engage the local community for years to come.

Key architectural and placemaking initiatives included enhancing street-level engagement through improved pedestrian and shopfront access, creating extensive outdoor seating areas and reducing vehicular impact on the site to make way for more communal zones. Additional design features included glazed and louvered awnings and soft landscaping.
