Description

The Bridge House is a gentle renovation of a much-loved heritage building, driven by respect for its past while welcoming a new era. Its previous iterations were Habitue and Harvest restaurants, and prior to that, it was the family home and studio of renowned Fremantle artist Murray Gill.

Our approach focused on creating an intimate and homely restaurant, prioritising privacy and presence—the mindful experience of enjoying great food and wine. Warm and relaxing pigments of jarrah and ochre helped to shape a glowing atmosphere that feels intentional and painterly. Interior updates including spatial layout, furniture and lighting, artwork and styling were made, along with a necessary upgrade to the heritage building’s alfresco and bathroom areas. Special attention was paid to improving the venue’s acoustics, including the use of textiles and full-height drapery inspired by the colour palette of the late artist’s etchings and paintings.
