Varsity is a classic American-inspired sports and arcade bar specialising in burgers, beer and cocktails. Design Theory has supported Varsity’s growth and expansion, beginning with their first location in Northbridge in 2015, followed by the opening of eight additional venues across Western Australia over the past 10 years.

Working closely with the client, we have been involved in all aspects of their venue design, from pre-site acquisition and interiors to post occupancy support. The streamlined design, casual and engaging atmosphere and interactive sports bar experience have proven to be highly successful in its scalability, offering patrons fun and familiarity that continues to strengthen Varsity’s brand, identity and customer loyalty.

Each location features open communal dining areas with a distinctive material palette of industrial chain mesh, cork, brickwork and jarrah timber. Other elements injecting personality include chalkboards, branded mural artwork and New England-style checkered rugs, along with the consistent use of dark colours and ambient neon lights. Hi-tech features such as large-screen televisions provide non-stop sports action and activity to Varsity’s venues.
